Guess we should have waited longer.
2 stars
p.s. Sorry, don't serve romaine when the source(s) of the nationwide outbreak of e-coli have not been confirmed --- many other greens are available...maybe some of them might even be fresh.
p.p.s. I guess they should hand out antacids for dessert.......I'm truly suffering from my grisly duck from which the fat was not rendered.

out $50 for dinner and two glasses of water.
It's a charming log cabin exterior and interior and the service was attentive. Everything else was 'meh.'
- the salad was Romaine (90% of the Romaine in the US is grown in the Yuma/Imperial Valley area...that's where bad lettuce is coming from), was pretty wilty with a bland Greek vinagrette.
- the salads came with four little pieces of cold, hard bread that looked like pancakes you make for four-year olds
- I had the Gyros Dinner (this is a Greek place...it s/h/b a good choice)
- the cucumbers and tomatoes had been sliced long ago (perhaps in Greece)
- the minimal pieces of Pita bread were cold, hard and flavorless
- the sauce for the Gyros meat should have had some sparkle or bright freshness to it also tasted old and more like a lemony tartar sauce
- the saffron orzo was an unremarkable mushball
- the Gyros meat was ample in size, somewhat spicy, but certainly is staying with us
- the onions were harsh and should have had a cold water bath
- the peppers were wilted and appeared to be right out of the Mount Olive or Mezzetta jar
- the three olives were OK
Go figure...off their game tonight or just old-fashioned supper-club OK?
We've eaten many, many meals together. Our meals at the Hideaway should have stayed hidden in the kitchen...but you know, tomorrow is a new day, but not at the Hideaway!!
