We needed a quick Sunday night dinner...there was a meeting at the CoffeeShop NE, so the rest of the place was full.
So, we headed down the street to Que Viet Village House...squeaking in just in time (8 PM close on Sunday).
We didn't want to keep them after closing...they've already worked all
day...so we decided to split the veggie egg fu yung and John added a
bowl of egg drop soup.
Everyone who works at Que Viet is so friendly and helpful. I think if
you've had a bad day or listened to any political news, it's a good
place to escape and just have a really pleasant break from what's going
on in the rest of the world.
John's soup arrived right away, steaming hot. Big chunks of egg and
thick rounds of spring onion...in a delicious broth...not salty; very
flavorful.
John was absorbed with (or absorbing) his soup when our egg fu yung
arrived, so I thought I would dig in and grab a big patty. But they're
just too big! I lopped off 1/3 of a patty, added some rice to my
plate, and drizzled a nice dollop of 'gravy' over
my rice. Steaming hot, full of veggies and cellophane
noodles...with a crispy edge---that cooled off enough for a first bite
while we waited for the 'middle' to cool off enough. Soooo tasty!!!

We managed to polish off 1 1/3 patties between the two of us...but the
rest had to take a ride home with us. I was tempted to open the box
before I put it in the fridge (the box was warm...ummm)...but I
resisted temptation. Before I left Que Viet, I ordered
a Vietnamese coffee to go....so I was enjoying some delightful sips of
creamy coffee. And, there will be more leftovers for tomorrow
Que Viet...wonderful food, served steaming hot...and by far the friendliest staff we've encountered in months...maybe years.
You feel good just talking to the people. The food is an over-the-top bonus!Details:
